Looking For a New Home? - Check Public Records First and Find Out About Your Neighbors

Let's face it. Things aren't like they used to be. We don't really know our neighbors anymore, and even when we think we do they can surprise us. How many times have you seen someone on TV say, "He seemed like such a nice person. I can't believe he could do something like that." They obviously hadn't done their homework.

Here's the truth. If you're thinking of buying a new home, you should find out about your potential neighbors. Is there a sex offender next door? Someone with a criminal background? Is there a halfway house around the corner?

How will you know if you don't check?

The good news is that checking is easy. Thanks to the Freedom of Information Act, Public Records are online and easily accessible. You just need to know where to look.

The difficulty is finding a good database with everything in it. Some of them are limited and won't have all the info you really need. Don't waste your time on those. And forget about Google for this one. You'll never find anything trying to wade through all the possibilities. If you want to get everything, make sure you use Federal Government Records. That way you're sure to get every possible thing from a local violation right up to a federal charge. If it's on their record, you'll find it with Federal Government Records.

When I need to look something up about anyone, I go straight to the top of the list.

I use FederalGovernmentRecords. You should, too.

When I need to perform a background check, I always use http://www.FederalGovernmentRecords.com
